On every corner, Bed Stuy has what they call "bodegas". I guess the way you would describe them is a convenient store, liquor store, and a deli all in one; what more could you ask for? A few doors down from every bodega seems to be a 24 hour fried chicken and pizza place. If a place serves fried chicken, then they also serve pizza, once again, no complaints here. If I need to do laundry, I have my options, about 6 laundry mats in a 3 block radius. All offering the same thing, but of course its nice to have variety. If you go out after dark, just keep to yourself.....and don't forget to buy a 3$ 40oz of St. Ides at your local bodega, that just says "Don't fuck with me, I'm Local!"Thursday, November 4, 2010
Bed Stuy :)
I wanna tell you about a place that I currently call home, Bed Stuy. Located in Brooklyn, its the birth place of such celebrities as the Notorious BIG, Chris Rock, Mike Tyson, Lil Kim, Spike Lee, Jay-Z, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, O.D.B, and Norah Jones. Although I'm sure none of them currently live here, they still shine through out the streets. You can't walk a block with out hearing Biggie blasting from a barber shop, Talib still plays local shows, and ODB murals are everywhere. People here like to "represent" and I love that.
